"The Mas de Daumas Gassac Rouge is one of those legendary wines and you are never really sure of those stories until you try it. When you open up a bottle of this red you instantly smell very ripe Cabernet Sauvignon flavours and you think of California or some such warm climate. As this opens up it 'cools down' and you get softer plummy fruit coming from the Merlot and Cabernet France, then beautiful light floral flavours coming from the Petit Verdot and Pinot Noir. Overall you get everything from blackberry to red cherries to violets to prunes and plums."
