Cascina Bruciata
A winery of this provenance is sure to have a long and interesting story to it. This does not disappoint one bit: the land that the estate's vineyards are planted on now where first excavated in the 1870s, on what is now considered one of the greatest historic 'crus' of the Barbaresco region, only to be tormented with disease and finally burnt down not to be shown any love until 3 decades later. Over the course of the 20th century the land and winery were pieced back together and from the 1980s onwards have been producing some of the best grapes in the region. Officially bought in 2016 by the Abbona family and was certified organic in 2015.
