Murgo Winery

Murgo has a short but significant history to it. An ex-Italian Ambassador to Brussels, amongst other parts of the world, in the 1980s decided to give up public service and move to the private sector - doesn't sound too different to many - but Emanuele Scammacca instead wished to open a winery. He spent a lot of time and money to transform some ancient sites in Mt Etna, on Sicily, and bring them in to the glory in which they now find themselves. He makes a series of complex and interesting wines made from the local grapes.
