Rheinhessen

Rheinhessen is infamously known for its contribution for the heartland of Liebfraumlich. This is a sad story that overtook the Rheinhessen for many decades which was at a time very poor and needed some economical help which extended export markets brought them. Small family wineries are, and have been, making incredible small batch wines largely from Riesling. It is situated just north of the Nahe region.
