Classic aromas of Catarratto are: Green Apple, Lemon, Lime, Yellow Peach and Almonds
Catarratto is a white grape varietal and is the grape behind the best white wines produced on Sicily. It has been planted here since the 17th century and has found an increase in popularity in recent years. There is now a massive 41,622ha planted across Sicily but mainly in the sub-regions of Palermo, Alcamo and Trapani. In recent years there has been plantings of Catarrato in California, the only region in the world outside of Sicily with vines, where there is now a total of 80ha.
Catarratto is capable of producing thrilling white wines with a light body and refreshing acidity. The leading flavours centre around nuts, citrus and fleshy stone-fruits.
