Ribolla Gialla

Classic aromas of Ribolla Gialla are: Yellow Nectarine, Yellow Peach, Lemon and White Florals

Ribolla Gialla is one of Italy’s oldest white grape varietals. It has been planted in the northeastern region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia since 1296.

Ribolla Gialla is largely grown, still, in the region of Friuli-Venezia Giulla where it is one of the more important white grape varietals. It is often blended with other white grape varietals of the region though single varietal examples are made in the regions Colli Orientali del Friuli and Collio.

Ribolla Gialla produces wines that are light in body with high acidity with flavours of yellow peach and nectarine and white florals. Recently more producers are making Ribolla Gialla into an orange wine to create a more complex and flavourful example of the grape. Ribolla Gialla also lends itself to being aged in oak which can give the wines a nutty flavour, too.
