Scheurebe
Classic aromas of Scheurebe are: Grapefruit, Lemon, Apricot, Yellow Peach, Pineapple and Mango
Scheurebe is white grape variety that comes from Germany. Its parent is Riesling – which explains the high acidity and the floral factor of the resulting wine.
To no surprise the clear majority of the world’s Scheurube is found in Germany. The total vineyard area is 1,672ha mostly in the Pfalz and Rheinhessen regions. It is made into dry and sweet styles of wine. Though small or unknown to the majority it is of huge potential and holds a great track record.
Outside of Germany, the only major proponent of Scheurebe is Austria who has a total of 511ha. With only a few hectares devoted to it across Switzerland and Canada.
Scheurebe makes wines that are light, refreshing and have a high acidity. The most classic flavours are pink grapefruit, apricots and peaches. As it develops more lemon, peach and pineapple flavours can be found.
