Torrontes

Classic aromas of Torrontes are: Green Apple, Lemon, White Peach, Green Grapes, Lime and Honeycomb

Torrontes is a white grape variety from Argentina. It is a highly aromatic grape that makes up Argentina’s signature white wines. It is a child of the very aromatic Muscat.

It is best planted at altitude in the Salta province in the North of Argentina. After Argentina is found in small quantities in Uruguay – here it has more pear, intense citrus flavours and overall less floral than Argentina examples.

Torrontes produces wines that are medium bodied with low acidities. At their best they produce fresh, aromatic wines with flavours of green apples, lime, green grapes, lemon pith and white peaches. Though hard to perfect, and bad examples can give soapy and bitter wines.
