Canary Islands
The Canary Islands are a truly stunning wine region that is thwarted by intrigue. Theoretically it shouldn't work as a wine region due to it's dramatic heat and consistent humidity (consider a Hong Kong vineyard - sounds silly right?) yet thanks to certain climatic characteristics there are now a range of sub-regions which work well with wine grapes. Largely the wine production is made up of the local grapes, which can be stunning, yet this is supplemented with some international grapes, too.
