Glera
Classic aromas of Glera are Lime Zest, Mango, Lemon and Green Apple
Glera is the grape reserved for producing the ever-popular sparkling wine: Prosecco. The grape itself has been known as Prosecco in the region of Treviso, where it is still grown, since the 18th century. It was in 2009, when the Prosecco Consorzio were forced to change the name to Glera.
Thanks to the popularity of Prosecco over the last two decades, the plantings of Glera have shot up to a total 11,000 ha across the Treviso region in northeast Italy.
When Prosecco is made well, Glera gives the sparkling wine a charming and pleasant aroma of green apple, lemongrass, lime zest and mango.
