Quinta da Romaneira are one of the top wineries in the Douro Valley of Portugal. The vineyards they use are arguably the best in the whole Douro and have some of the oldest vineyards planted there. Quinta da Romaneira is seen as fairly new on the winemaking scene but the truth is that they were one of the most established wineries in the region until a dramatic fire in the early half of the 20th century that wiped out their stock and winery leaving them unable to produce wine. Thanks to the AXA who bought the estate and have brought it back up to its former glory. Though their Ports are incredible - especially the 40 Year Old Tawny - they are unique in that they put a real focus on their table wines. Thanks to this dedication they are now producing some of the best wines in the region.
